The assistant is automated. Your messages and its replies can be read by the host and by Spun. When the assistant cannot answer something, it passes your question to the host on WhatsApp, and the host’s reply is sent back to you in the same chat.
It answers only from information the host has given Spun about the property (check-in and checkout times, breakfast, Wi-Fi, parking, house rules, recommended places nearby and any documents such as a menu). It cannot book, order or arrange anything, and it does not give medical or allergy advice: those questions go to the host. For an emergency it tells you to call 999.
Messages about allergies, health or an emergency are passed to the host because that is the purpose of the message. They are not used for anything else.
At the end of your stay the assistant may ask whether you would like the property to message you about offers for a future stay. If you reply YES, the property keeps your first name and phone number in its own guest list with a record of your consent, and may message you from its own WhatsApp. If you say nothing, or reply STOP, nothing is kept for offers. You can reply STOP to any later message and the property will stop. Only the property you stayed at receives this; Spun does not share your details with other properties or anyone else for marketing.
If you ask for something the property charges for (a late checkout, parking), the assistant may send you a secure card payment page. That page is run by Stripe on behalf of the property: your card details go to Stripe, never to Spun or the host, and the money is paid directly to the property’s own account. Spun keeps a record of what was paid for and when, not your card details.
The host is the controller of the information about your stay. Spun processes it on the host’s behalf, using the providers listed on our sub-processors page(WhatsApp is provided by Meta, the assistant’s replies are generated by an AI model provider, and nearby places come from Google Maps). Your messages are not used to train AI models.
You can ask to see or delete the messages we hold about you. Ask the host, or email Spun at privacy@spun.bot with the property name and the number you messaged from. Our full privacy policyhas more detail, including how to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
